I have changed the character to a robot, this isn't the final image, but what the sprite will most likely look like.

The name for the robot is undecided as of now. I am planning on making his legs move and his arm swing slightly when he walks, his tail swing and fall when he jumps(possibility) and his light move up and down constantly.

Update on new game
I've added some new features to the small java game I'm currently working on.
These Include:
Helpful Signs with tips - these help the player learn to play the game whilst actually playing. In my opinion this is the best way of learning, by doing.
Deaths System - the player can keep track of how many times they have died throughout playing, I might add an online leader board at some stage which ranks the top players by least deaths after completing a certain amount of levels (e.g 0-10, 0-20 and so on).
Spikes! - Watch your step or you could fall into a pit of these! Some levels will have pits of spikes in them, mis-time your jump and you could be plunging onto a sharp spike.
Turrets - These badboys are stationary and fire missiles at a constant rate, get hit by one and you'll die.
